The Plin

We started hear about “il Plin” during high school years.

Nobody really knew if he was just a legend or if he existed for real. Between us, he was a sort of superhero, like in that Schwarzenegger movie, Sboretor. In high school, when a bully was really oppressive, Plin ridicule him with an ironical writing on a wall. It didn’t work in stopping violence but, for a while, made us forget the shit around us.

Nobody never met him but he was there, defending the weaker with his irony.

We started believing that he was not alone, that he was a group of people that used irony as a weapon, to protect us from high school bullies, or from who made a bankrupt with an historical Crusader Serie A team we can’t mention here.

Year after year we all friends started WhatsApp groups inspired by him called “The Plin” where we posted satirical commentary on life’s fact, just to make a laugh during coffee break. I heard it happened the same also in other cities. Casualty wanted that his name was also onomatopoeia for the WhatsApp tone and this made it even more popular. “Plin” became soon synonymous for “ironical joke”: “eh eh, what a good Plin!” “I have to tell you the Plin I red on the newspaper, so fun”.

Point is that The Plin started messaging also on Parma stuff, and we would like you not to miss it. We decided to report every interesting Plin that we find around: please, be patient if our translation is not perfect.

We still don’t know if The Plin exist or not, if he is alive or where are they now (?!). We like to imagine a quiet accountant with Tom Selleck mustache in a small town that top up his wages with striptease and sometimes makes volunteering with Captain Lucarelli.

[if you like the story and you are thinking in registering domain don’t waist time in looking for, we altready bought it]

Ps: Thanks to il Plin, by the heart.

thAnks, again

It is not the first time you read this post but it is so important for us we prefer to be even boring.

The season is about to officially start with our coming back to Serie A. On Sunday against Udinese it will be emotional, despite the result. It doesn’t matter.

We have to stop a minute to think about this incredible three years we just lived from the failure to the coming back to serie A with three straight promotions.

We have to say “thank you” to all the players, managers, trainers that are part of Parma Calcio 1913 or have been in last three years. Thanks to all the supporters that followed the team even in serie D and even in bad times.

Stealing the words to a friend that we are about to introduce you: “Don’t tell to failed teams they will do like Parma. You know it is impossible”

In Parma there is that “kind of magic” that is not easy to explain to who is not a supporter. Our mission is to show that to everyone that would like to get closer to Crusaders passion, as we explained with the Hidden Crusader post.

Parma is not like other places. Parma Calcio is not like other teams.

Join us and you will discover it.

Three years ago

Today is exactly three years since Valerio Pennicino/Getty Images took this pic that is on Parma Calcio Facebook wall.

This was the second friendly match of new Parma Calcio 1913 in a village few kilometers from Parma: no official shirt on, some incredulous face, some determined. The Captain, of course, and some face we would learn to be used to: Ciccio Corapi, Lauria, Giorgino, Zommers, Cacioli… Boys of Curva Nord always there, everywhere.

We come from here.

Don’t forget it after the first, after the second, after the third match lost.

Thank you to Dario for making us remember this moment.

In a better world

All of us are away fans.

Away fans have same problems. Small, big problems.

In our tough “away fans” life when we play afterwork football we are the only one with a Parma shirt. Just Barcelona, Man utd, Bayern Munich, Milan or the italian-non-colored-team shirts around us. Always.

“Your t-shirt confuse us…”

“It mismatch with ours…”

“You are the only with a different jersey, Put the vest on” “S**t”

In dreams, world can be better, imagine it… close your eyes… no, s**t… ask someone to read and then close your eyes. Ready?

In a better world, when I play afterwork football, there are not Real Madrid or Zebra t-shirts. In a better world when I play afterwork football there will be other people with a Parma t-shirt on, not just me.

“Cool, is it the 1998-99 Uefa cup jersey?” “No, it is the following by Champions, do you remember? 1998/99 was by Lotto, Champions came in 1999 as a technical sponsor” “Oh, you right, how could I forget?! Do you like my Red kit? it was the one we used only in 2017/18 in last match in La Spezia” “What a night was that!”

In a better world my colleagues will send me messages before the match asking: “Today Crusaders or Yellow and Blue?” “It will be a difficult match… let’s put Black Phoenix on!”

Now, open your eyes and look at this pic.

Yes, you read properly.

Where we come from

We arrive three years later but the article we are about to link you is so important for us that it has no time. It remembers us where we come from, what great (and transparent and loyal, and honest) things we did together in this time, and a story that needs to be remembered.

It is important not just for the story that tells, not just because it is from an English fan  (all of you knows how rare are this kind of contribution to our team). It is important because touch the main topic that Parma Fans Worldwide would like to communicate to abroad fans: Parma and Parmesan humanity.

Who – fans or players on the same level – have been in Parma for some times, who met parmesan people, knows that “kind of magic” so difficult to explain but so easy to understand.

Well, I guess Roger Paul Mitchell article is also about this.

You will probably remember the episode in which, during Parma bankrupt season, a Fan, Cesare, went down on the pitch talking to Cassano with his finger pointed on him. If you thought he was a brute, read the article by Roger Mitchell.

Moreover, some days after the episode, Cesare friends realized a T-shirt to support him against the massive and offensive attacks by hypocrite media. All the revenue was given to Parma Pediatric Hospital.

The appeal? Eat well and laugh on it

On 9th august there will be the appeal and the verdict that will definitely say if Parma will start with a penalization in next season and if Calaiò can still yearn for a professional career.

Rumors says that at least penalization will be reduced.

Anyway in Parma there is someone that is taking chance for laugh on it.

A parmesan pub, Vecchie Maniere (translated “Old Ways”), decided to add to its menu the Claudiein, the sandwich that seems to be friend but it is not 🙂 with Culaccia (don’t call it just “ham”), Parmigiano cheese, rocket and unknown bread and sauce AKA “the betrayal”.

if you don’t know understand why Claudiein is considered an unfaithful friend read HERE. And if you don’t know nothing about the ridiculous investigation, forget it.

If you can’t forget it, following the tag “investigation”- HERE – you can reconstruct the whole story.

Eat well, and laugh on it!

Summer rumors are not for me

First of all thanks to Mario and Yves that accepted (!) to play along.

This is not a post about summer rumors because we don’t like summer rumors. Mainly the sense of the post is make the play on words that only who knows Parmesan dialect and summer rumors around Parma can understand. Them and Andrea Alongi, but this is another story. Not few people if this website wasn’t just for fans abroad…

Actually we are neither so sure about the grammar, shame on us!

Understand us, it’s summer, it’s hot and it’s three years we are waiting for OUR serie A to restart. And it will restart with a home match, if you lost schedule read here.

Well, we don’t know if Balotelli is coming or not.

We don’t know nothing but official communication by Society.

We just want to say that whatever… whoever… we will be there.

By Parma side.

Happy Birthday, all time Captain

He was with us when we came back to serie A.

He was with us when we conquered Europa League.

He was with us when we changed four presidents in a season.

He was with us in courthouse.

He was with us when we were alone, even if HE was alone.

He was with us in Arzignano.

He was with us when we conquered Lega Pro.

He was with us in two winning derby.

He was with us in last penalty against Pordenone.

He was with us in La Spezia.

He was with us when we went back were we deserve to be.

Happy Birthday, all time Captain, by Parma Fans Worldwide.

Against all odds, by your side

Captain Alessandro Lucarelli – pic credit:

We choose this pic because it is representative.

It represents our recent history, it represents who we are, where we come from, what we can resist to.

All around – expecially by italian press – there is a mediatic process against Parma Calcio that is throwing mud against our colors. We don’t want to tell our opinion about a process that is running and that maybe – italian legal system is famous for his low timing – tomorrow will disclose our future. We will be patient and will wait in silence and in respect to the work of Justice even if it is important everybody knows that Parma and its fans deserve respect.

What we want to be clear to everybody is that Parma Fans Worldwide will be on the society side in any case. We conquered Serie A and we deserved it. “They” want us in Serie B? in Serie C? Serie D, probably to win other couple of derby against Reggiana? well, we will be there anyway like in last three years and like our Captain Alessandro Lucarelli teached us.

It is not a matter of fanatism, it is a matter of love.

When we restarted three years ago one of the mottos was “We are Parma”. This words are still effective: all of us, from Indonesia to Greece, from Iceland to Poland, Hungary, Balkans, England, Egypt, Brazil, everywhere… All of us have that words tattooed under the skin, even if we don’t have a membership card or if we have never been to Tardini in our life.

We will be by Parma Calcio side everywhere, in any case, against all odds.

#weareparma #thisisaparma

ps: to be clear, we deserve Serie A and we can’t wait to kick Juventus ass in Tardini ASAP 😉
