Calaiò farewell letter

Emanuele Calaiò, arciere [archer], left officially the club yesterday to join Salernitana on permanent deal. You probably red our thank you to him, Gianni Munari and Yves Baraye).

He decided to publish a moving farewell letter through ParmaToday.it, that we thanks. Here the (non professional) translation:

Thanks Parma,

you are and always will be my home. Unfortunately the moment I would like arrive as later as possible arrived. After two years of goal, assist, victories and delights shared with mates, Club, with you fans, I have to greet. I do it with my heart in my throat and with a worry: after being protagonist to write Parma history I would like to close the ring and give my contribution even in Serie A. But unfortunately it has not been possible.

Thanks Parma,

you are and always will be my home. Even when I suffered, when we suffered. I know what you felt this summer, I tasted it on myself everyday. It went fine, now – thanks to you that gave me support – I feel like if I get off from a tornado and, with a deep breath, restart to breath and decided to begin again. Unfortunately far from Parma, but in football, like in everyday life, make choices is necessary. And respect them. This, even if it is not my decision, I respect it as I always thank for what did for me, giving me the chance to train until the end.

Since tomorrow a new adventure start. I don’t know if one day we will meet again, maybe with other roles, or as rivals. Never as enemies, this is a promise. Nobody knows what it is going to happen the important is having been there in the moment of need. I am proud of what we did, me,my team mates and you. I bring you with me.

Thanks Parma,

you are and always will be my home.”

Thanks for all, Crusaders

As you already know on Parma Calcio website there is the list of winter transfer market movements. We almost never talk about this matter here. We don’t like jump into transfer rumors, joining polemics on who is good or who is not. We support the Club, trying being not taking sides.

But since our mission is bring Parma closer to abroad fans (and viceversa) we are always focused on news related with the most human perspective of supporting Parma Calcio, and the relationship between town, Club, players and fan base.

The reason of this post is to thank three real Crusaders that left officially yesterday. Our dream – as we wrote in our Santa Claus list of desire that probably got lost around North Pole – was to see them play in serie A with us. The happened only for Gianni “Worlverine” Munari for few minutes on unlucky home match with Spal.

This is football and we don’t blame anyone for this decision: professionals have to act as professionals. But, allow us to act like fans like we are and being sad for their departure.

Emanuele, Gianni, Yves, you will always be in our supporters heart.

Good luck and thanks for all, Crusaders.

We were Rangers

As we use to do, we give you the chance to listen to Parmesan’s voices. Our mission is to bring Parma and Parma Calcio closer to abroad fans and this is one of the special occasions to do it.

You already heard Fulvio Ceresini reaction to first verdict on well-known investigation we had to relate to this summer. Now we propose you the post that Marco Ferrari, former Parma vice-president and co-founder of Nuovo Inizio, the Society that allowed, together with popular shareholder Parma Partecipazioni Calcistiche, rebirth of Parma Calcio three years ago, published on Facebook few minutes after the appeal verdict that determined Parma non-involvement in WhatsApp messages absurd affair.

+++this is a non professional translation made by fans for fans. You can find original italian version on Marco Ferrari’s – that we thanks a lot for his authorization – Facebook wall+++

Since long time I have not an operative role and I don’t have a place in Parma Calcio society. I fell free then, in a strictly personal way, to share some thoughts on recent facts.

With all our limits, rebirth of Parma in just three years could have been a positive advertisement for italian football in general. They preferred spit on it. Many times. In less more than one year we have been put on all first pages of italian and abroad newspapaers for two of most infamous accusation in sport: football bets and sport illicit.

I still remember the headline of an important newspaper after Parma vs Ancona: “Parma, the shadow of Camorra”. Some facts of that days nauseated me and had an important role in my decision of leave every place in Society. Not even the time to forget ‘Pozzuoli millions’ – that never existed as all investigations demonstrated – that “Cazzein affair” begun. With Parma Calcio virtually relegated for sport illicit on websites and newspapers worldwide.

Calaiò messages – careless and inopportune – has never been a sport illicit. Common sense of everyone have ever been in a locker room and is little used to WhatsApp spirit and emoji says this. It is the pitch, that knows that Parma always got what deserved in these years, to say this. Finally, today, it is also a Judge to say this.

Today verdict cancel a spot put too much easily – by many – on our patch. But – sincerely – I can not be happy for it. Because in last two months we already suffered a condemnation that nobody could payback: we deserved on the pitch to be Rangers and they tried to make us seem Pippeins.

After hell tour in 2015, Parma fans, staff, team and everyone contributed to an historical venture, deserved to enjoy with enthusiasm Serie A return.

We all have been obligated to pass horrible weeks scanned by many, too many bad words in this Great Ugliness summer.

Waiting that Time – like a wise friend suggests – will put as usual ‘each queen in her throne and every clown in their circus’.”

ps: if something is difficult to understand and you are interested in going deeper, don’t hesitate to write us. We will be happy to help you.

Parma with no penalization?

Today is appeal day. Parma will present his formal answer to verdict that said we will start serie A with 5 points less.

Daily the court will decide about penalization in this season and Calaiò suspension.

In the better option Parma will have no penalization and Calaiò 6 months suspension.

To resume all the story read from the beginning posts with “investigation” tag

The appeal? Eat well and laugh on it

On 9th august there will be the appeal and the verdict that will definitely say if Parma will start with a penalization in next season and if Calaiò can still yearn for a professional career.

Rumors says that at least penalization will be reduced.

Anyway in Parma there is someone that is taking chance for laugh on it.

A parmesan pub, Vecchie Maniere (translated “Old Ways”), decided to add to its menu the Claudiein, the sandwich that seems to be friend but it is not 🙂 with Culaccia (don’t call it just “ham”), Parmigiano cheese, rocket and unknown bread and sauce AKA “the betrayal”.

if you don’t know understand why Claudiein is considered an unfaithful friend read HERE. And if you don’t know nothing about the ridiculous investigation, forget it.

If you can’t forget it, following the tag “investigation”- HERE – you can reconstruct the whole story.

Eat well, and laugh on it!

About investigation

Since you probably heard about the investigation and certainly information you get are partial we would like to make a resume of what happened and what is about to happen.

To be clear: we are fans, not journalist or lawyers, and this is what we understood from this weird “italian” situation.

Before Parma- Spezia match Calaiò – only him, not Ceravolo- sent three Sms to a former team mate now playing in Spezia. These are the Sms

They sound like: 1) Hey Pippein, don’t break balls please my friend 2) Tell it also to Claudiein 3) Expecially for the knowledge you have with me. Then there should be another one in which he downplay.

Doing this is not allowed. Even if Dal Col did not answered, even if it was sort of kidding with a former teammate and friend, even if certainly the match was not combined for that. The point is that in Italy exist Responsabilità oggettiva that means that Parma Calcio 1913 is responsible for everything one of its player does h24, 7/7. That is why the prosecution is not only on Calaiò but also on society that, of course, is totally far from this case.

On 17th July the accusation asked for 4 year suspension for Calaiò (he is 37, so will close his professional carreer here) plus 50k euros fee, and minus 2 points in past season for Parma Calcio (that would mean lost of the second place and direct promotion in the league) or minus 6 points in next season in serie A.

All of us thought the same thing: with 2 points less Parma will end at third place so, how the hell can they replay Playoff? They will relegate a team that conquered at least playoff without let play them? It is weird. We don’t know what to expect but it is weird.

In addiction to all this there are some strange points: Dal Col that received the watsup messages never said they considered it illicit but they just reported it to their society, Spezia, that did not denounced but just communicate it to Procura. Spezia communication arrived in Procura on 14th may but the investigation started on 4th June! What they waited for? If they didn’t start the investigation properly why they decided to do it later once playoff already started?

Now, probably before Saturday, the judge will decide on it. After that for sure Parma will go on with other grades do judgement to go out completely clean like it is from all this and will also decide if recoup losses with its player Calaiò. We will see.

The sure things are that Parma Calcio never fixed matches. Don’t stop to press titles made just to sell newspapers, read only official communications in. Parma is clean, society is clean and victim of all this weird situation. Calaiò made something wrong and will pay for it, we hope, the right penalty but not 4 years suspension like if he really fixed a match of sold it.

We are Parma, don’t forget. Don’t let anyone saying we are do it illegally, it is not us, that one.

If you want to discuss about it, look for our group Parma Fans Worldwide – Facebook Network on facebook or comment here.

Season Review – Episode 7

Football, like life, is a story to tell and our story, in last three years, IS the football.

We do it from fans to fans: even if translation is rough we are sure you will appreciate it anyway.

EPISODE 7 – “Until I’ll live”

Coming back from Avelino, Parma in awaited by the match against Palermo that was postponed because of snow. Match is a real head to head and crusaders put all their chances to… a palermitan; Emanuele Calaiò. It is an hat trick fo Arciere, and so we can keep Rosanero distant (in last minutes they are about to drop).”It has been a wonderful night, with an hat trick and a great victory, This three points are heavy, conquered against a strong team. This success give us confidence and serenityusefull for next two matches in Tardini” so Calaiò explains at the end of the match after posing for a picture with the hattrick ball.

“There has been a continuous growth, after Empoli the group get united and I think that the basis is to give few chances to opponents, that doesn’t means to be defensive but that if we can go forward we should bring the victory till the end. Self esteem grew, working and playing with serenity things are easier” explains D’Aversa next Friday. Next match againis another head to head, this time against Frosinone in Tardini. And it is another, really important success. Calaiò by penalty misses the gola. Parma doesn’t leave and keep attacking: Di Gaudio with two goals close the matching the first half: “Even if we failed the penalty, we never gave up. We said ourselves in the pitch we couldn’t give up because it was fundamental, against such a team like Frosinone, to score first and keep ahead till the end”, says Crusader n° 20.

Third straight home match is against Cittadella. There is a lot of enthusiasmaroind the group , that is not just running for play-off but also for a second place that could mean direct promotion. Enthusiasm that leak out from a new song that averybody sings…

Against Cittadelle is 0-0:  Their goalkeeper, that was the man of the match, was determination. Result is false in respect to what we did in the game, We deserved to win” so Mister D’Aversa in Tardini’s press conference. There is not a lot of time to stop thinking or recriminate: on Monday, in Ascoli, we have to play against a tema that have to fight for staying in serie B. Parma immediately scores with a fireball by Calaiò that means three points in a really important moment, like Iacoponi explains: ” we are a united group, where who get in instead of injuried do it well. Everyone is important. This is a really important aspect for our run to serie A. Serie B is a long league, with many matches in the middle of the week. It si good that who played less until now, take his chance to mark the difference, as it is happening”.

Positive moment continue next league day; on 21st April in Tardini we beat Carpi 2-1 with Barillà two goals. Worst news are the injuries for Lucarelli and Munari: ” I am really happy, because the team reached three points we were looking for. We are sorry for two injuries to Alessandro and Gianni. This victory is dedicated to them” tells Nino at the end of the match.

In Verceli we lost 1-0. D’Aversa doesn’t want to see moral crash: “All we have to do is to work for solving problems, pass obstacles and keep doing what we are doing. Today first half performance have to be a bad moment we want to leave behind our way”. Agaist Ternana on 1st may we take again three points. Hero of the match is “la Belva”, that scores the first goal and then so suggest the second:

Enthusiasm is again high and when next week in Cesena Ceravolo propitiate an own goal everything seems going in the right way, But then in Manuzzi we leave three points, with Cesena that win in the last minutes.

There are two more games in the regular season. And then maybe, It will happen…

Season Review 2017/2018 – Episode 6

EPISODE 6 – “Sliding Doors”

On Friday 16th February the team leaves Collecchio technical centre direct to Empoli. If it is true that every season has a turning point,  away match in Castellani is our one. Parma loose 0-4: D’Aversa, after the match, is clear: ” we are sad, we have to shut up and work.” then in press conference he speaks about our targets: ” what makes me trust in the future is that in difficult moments we always made good things. Now everything is painted black , we miss some certainties , but I ask to guy to thing only about tomorrow match not considering what happened”.

In Ennio against Venezia we draw 1-1. Gagliolo take the post in the first half, Venezia in the secondo half go forward with Firenze, then is Calaiò to score the draw by penalty. Scozzarella says: “I never stop to trust on our reacting power. I live daily with my team mates and I know our personality skills, we train well. We are hard working guys.”

There is a lot to work on, because next Monday we have match in Salerno. Parma do his best wining 0-1 with the first gal od Dei. This is a performance in which less seen players had chances to step the pitch, as D’aVersa underlines: “Happiness for a trainers is to see in the pitch players like Frediani or Anastasio, that had few chances but that work hard day by day, and this is a prize for their dedication… like Vacca too, it was not easy to get in in such a difficult match and do it well”.

Northern Italy is covered by snow so 3rd march Parma-Parlermo is not played.

So we step to next week: match in Pescara. We win 1-4. Calaiò scores first (his 100 giola in Serie B) then Ceravolo, Gagliolo and Scavone.

Arciere has special dedication for it: “Dedication for the 100° goal in serie B should be a lot to do. To my family and my sons but today I want to dedicate my  thoughts to Davide Astori and his family. We are all disarranged for what happened to Astori. This goal, this victoryI want to dedicate to him. Even if I did not knew him, he is part of us.” On 17th march Parla lost in Chiavari: 2-0 for Virtus Entella. Crusaders have to turn to they mental and physical energies. Once again D’Aversa spurs his guys: “I await for a pride performance against Foggia”. Before going back home, there is a good new from Parma family: young Crusaders are doing it good in Torneo di Viareggio. After pass the round, on 21st march they eliminate Milan on penalties, and goalkeeper Adorni stops two of them,

Guys pass also the next round against Veneia and arrives – against all bets – to semifinals, where they lost against Inter, trophy winner. On 25th march we wait for Foggia in Tardini, Parma have to react and we do it: 3-1. It is not an say match: Foggia is in ten men but scores at the end of the first half; Parma in the end win thanks to Calaiò, Siligardi (first goal with our colors) and Ceravolo. In Avellino Parma looks for confirmations and find them: on 29th march Crusaders win 1-2 with Gagliolo and Barillà goals n first 8 minutes.

New season will see us again in Serie A. While Crusaders are on holiday, waiting for new season to start, let’s taste again the emotions of Serie B 2017/18 league. This is the first Episode of “Season Review”.
Our long travel to Serie A began in the second half of July 2017, when in Collecchio started the pre-seasonal retreat. Medical visits, presentations and first training of new players (Frediani, Barillà, Siligardi and Pinto, for example), then it is time to leave to Pinzolo, Trentino, for the retreat. Before leaving, Roberto D’Aversa speaks with press: “We start with enthusiasm, we have great desire to satisfy our fans. Now we start from this group and from his enthusiasm, that also in Florence final demonstrated his greatness”.
On 20th July the team, under D’Aversa coaching, started the training. after three days, on 23rd, Crusaders play first friendly match of the season: 14-0 to Pieve di Bono, first goal scored by Iacoponi. In Pinzolo arrive two new players: Dezi and Insigne, both from Napoli.

More matches follow like 12-0 to Settaurense and 4-0 to Dro, in Pinzolo arrive also Gagliolo and Di Gaudio, so 1st august Crusaders finish the retreat and go back to Collecchio, to follow with trainings two days later.
First official match is Coppa Italia second round against Bari. In San Nicola we lost 2-1: Crusaders go forward with a Calaiò penalty but Bari remount and kick us out of the competition. D’Aversa said: “I’m pretty satisfied of our performance, not of the result”.
After this match Crusaders plays two more friendlies against bigger opponents like Fiorentina (0-0) on 13 August and Empoli (1-1). Team is ready for the debut: two years after the societary renaissance, Parma Calcio 1913 starts the Serie B league. First one is a home match against Cremonese: “There is desire to start tomorrow. We’re honored to be the first in doing it opening the league, Parma is an historical team. Surely it will be emotional, tomorrow, the championship debut. I hope that my team will step the pitch fighting on every tackle, because i think that passion and belonging feeling of our tifosi deserve it” so spoke Mister D’Aversa.
On 25th august we debut in the league and we do it in the best way: winnning. Victory goal is scored by Calaiò, again on penalty, like in Coppa Italia in the beginning of august.

Calaiò explain: “Help the team for me is the most important thing, giving my experience in the category. Fortunately with this goal I restarted from where I left last year. Our mission is to keep united and not take goals, looking for scoring first”.Second episode will follow…
